Astra Nova | App Font
This package contains Astra Nova (1 font) in Opentype (.otf) format for use in an App.
Astra Nova is a revitalized classic Americana typeface by François Robert. Following his typeface Baudot, Astra Nova was first introduced in 1969 under the name “Astra” in the rub-down type (dry transfer) format. This iconic display type is now available as a 21st Century digital font ready to once again perform its duty inspiring hope and positivity.
Similar to Robert’s typeface “Baudot”, the visual concept of this design is letterforms comprised of smaller units on a grid (like pixels) and also channels his admiration for the best aspects of American culture. This new version was carefully engineered to precisely reproduce the subtle vertical overlapping grid of Robert’s original design while also greatly expanding the glyph repertoire to field 993 glyphs.
Astra Nova supports 442 languages including Vietnamese and Greek, plus broad support for Afrikan and Oceanian languages. Handy Opentype features such as ligatures (standard and discretionary), fractions, stylistic alternates, and smart Roman numerals are built in to ease access and help make your typography sparkle. You’ll also find a selection of useful symbols and shapes for assembling borders and other elements to apply the same aesthetic to other areas of a layout.
Use Astra Nova extra large to add pizzazz to headlines and titles on posters, logos, book covers, album covers, and as big drop caps in a page layout.
